The Crab Nebula
December 30, 2002
The Crab Nebula is a labyrinth of gas remnants from a star that exploded almost 1000 years ago. Chinese astronomers logged it as having been four times brighter than Venus... so intense as to be visible in daylight for three weeks and in the night sky for two years!

Taken with a Canon D60 digital SLR through an 8" Mak-Newt, this image is comprised of nine 300 second shots taken at ISO 400 and an ambient temperature of 28 deg F. Processing done in
Images Plus, with final touches in Adobe PhotoShop.
