| Taken mid-afternoon on 29-Mar-2003 during a brief break in the clouds (North is to the right and NNE is at the top). An ominously dark AR0325 has just spun into view (at the 11 o'clock position) extending filament tendrils. Several large filaments dance through the chromosphere as a major prominence lurks over the horizon, soon to come on stage. Clouds were the order of the day, parting only long enough to gather a few images then closing rank, with rain beginning to fall as the last of the equipment was stored. Image Info: Canon EOS D60 digital SLR, Coronado Solarmax90/T-Max, and 30mm blocking filter attached to a Takahashi FS128 via T-mount TeleVue 4x Powermate. Processing was done in Images Plus and final polishing in Adobe PhotoShop. |
